Take aways from CFIA in France 2018

We got a chance to talk to Jeremy Howes at Firmalis, the Lyckeby distributor in France. They have just been exhibiting at CFIA in Rennes and we wanted to learn the most important take aways from the team at Firmalis.

What was your main project at CFIA and what response did you get at the show?

We received very interesting prospects and customers, with consistent projects, and challenges. The Firmalis team was very happy to promote ingredients in relevant applications. A gluten free muffin was presented, which contained Lyckeby Careful 250 C and Lyckeby Aloja Pea Protein. Our R&D team developed this tasty muffin cake with a good soft and moist texture, compared to a full wheat muffin.

The main project focus this year, was the wheat replacement by gluten free solution. The second focus was the sugar reduction in sweet product. How could we manage to reduce sugar without lacking taste, mouthfeel and dry matter content?

What was your main impression of the 2018 edition of CFIA?

Another trend on our French market is the need for nutritional meals containing different protein sources, vitamins. A lot of customer were looking for meat or milk protein free solutions. These prospects or customers are testing vegetable protein solution for meal substitutes made for people who work a lot, who don't have time to have a meal, or are travelling, concludes Jeremy Howes.
