        Swedish plant breeding: A key to sustainable food production

        In a recent opinion piece in Svenska Dagbladet, the need for increased investment in plant breeding is highlighted as a crucial factor for the future of food production. One of the article’s authors is Lyckeby’s Development Manager, Kalle Johansson, along with representatives from, among others, Lantmännen, the Swedish Seed Association, and SLU (Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences).

        The article emphasizes that 70 percent of the increase in agricultural yields since the year 2000 can be attributed to plant breeding. To address climate change, strengthen preparedness, and reduce dependence on imported raw materials, long-term investments in national research are needed—with SLU Grogrund as the hub.

        Lyckeby supports this approach—we see plant breeding as a powerful tool to ensure Sweden’s food security, now and for future generations.

              Replace casein with exceptional gel strength and high meltability

              SWELY GEL KF 60 is the new innovative starch from Lyckeby that bring cost reductions and improved meltability in pizza topping.

              The functional properties of SWELY GEL KF 60 have been created using a patented, environmentally friendly and resource-efficient technology. The starch has a clean label declaration which also makes it favorable in a declaration perspective.

              SWELY GEL KF 60 replace casein partly or fully and build a firm cheese at low dosage. The starch is very efficient creating high gel strength which means the total quantity of starch in a recipe can be reduced, leading to beneficial cost savings for cheese manufacturers. The excellent innovation is the meltability, where SWELY GEL KF 60 provide a significantly increased meltability compared with commonly used starches for processed cheese. Meltability is crucial in many different food products where processed cheese and plant-based cheese is an important ingredient.

                  New partner portal launched – to enhance and elevate the experience for our users

                  On January 15, our new and improved partner portal was launched, a platform that makes it easier and more efficient for our customers, distributors, transporters, and owners to collaborate and access important resources. The new portal is designed to be both modern and user-friendly and adapted to provide a smooth experience regardless of device – it works equally well on computers as on mobile devices.

                  One of the biggest improvements is the increased security. To protect our users and their information, we have introduced BankID login, which guarantees a safe and easy login process.
